Ringette PEI is now accepting applications for head coaches for the U14 Wave, U16 Wave, U19 Edge, and 18+ high performance program teams for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. Applications will be accepted until midnight, July 23, 2021.
EDIT**A call for Edge coach applications will occur once the Wave teams are picked.**
All applications are to be sent via email to Ringette PEI Director of Coaching, kmhicken@upei.ca as well as ringettepei@gmail.com. Wave coach Interviews will take place the week of August 2nd.
EDIT**Edge coach interviews will take place in September after the Wave teams have been selected.**
Applications should include:
- Clear identification of team applying for
- Coaching credentials
- Ringette coaching experience
- Other leadership experience
- A seasonal plan and team goals
RPEI’s High Performance Program is meant to provide high level players with opportunities to further develop their ringette skills and to provide opportunities to compete with other ringette athletes from across Canada. RPEI encourages all athletes to strive to succeed and do their best. RPEI currently offers a High Performance Program for the U14, U16, U19 and 18+ divisions.
For the upcoming 2021-2022 season, RPEI is planning to ice the following teams:
- U14 Wave, AA
- U14 Edge, A
- U16 Wave, AA
- U16 Edge, A
- U19 Wave, AA – **Coaches for this team have already been approved by RPEI for the 2021- 2022 season in conjunction with the Canada Winter Games program, coach applications will not be accepted for this team.**
- U19 Edge, A
- 18+ Wave, AA
Ringette PEI will support the creation of one Wave team as well as one Edge team for this upcoming season in all divisions, if there are enough athletes to fill the positions. Each team will have a roster size of 17 with two being goaltenders.
Anyone interested in the head coach position for any of these teams must apply by the July 23
rd deadline. Please clearly indicate the team you are applying for in your application. Wave coach applicants will be interviewed in August with the Wave coaches to be named upon the completion of the interview process.
Edge coach application call and interviews will take place in September. Edge team tryouts will begin once the Wave team has been selected and the Edge coach has been formally announced. It is recommended that any coach who is interested in being part of the Edge coaching staff take part in the Wave tryouts in cooperation with that coaching staff.
Selected coaches as well as assistant coaches must be Competition Introduction certified or must be willing to complete this training by December 31
st of this competition season. All coaches who are coaching within Ringette PEI must adhere to the responsible coaching movement standards (
https://www.coach.ca/responsible-coaching-movement-p160721&language=en) which include:
- An up-to-date police record and vulnerable sector check on file within their local ringette association or RPEI if not coaching at the association level
- Follow the rule of two and never be alone or out of sight of others with an athlete.
- Have ethics in sport training (included within the Community Sport Initiation course)
