High Performance

Ringette PEI's HP Program is subject to changes for the 2020-2021 season due to COVID-19.

Registration for the Wave Program is now closed. Tryouts will begin Wednesday, September 23rd for the U16 division. Check out the tryout schedule here.
Registration is still open for the Edge Program. Tryouts will begin once the Wave teams have been choosen. Athletes can register for Edge tryouts by clicking here.

Ringette PEI’s High Performance Program is meant to provide high level players with opportunities to further develop their ringette skills and to provide opportunities to compete with other ringette athletes from across Canada. RPEI encourages all athletes to strive to succeed and do their best. RPEI currently offers the High Performance Program for the U14, U16, U19, and 18+ divisions.

Teams will be selected after a series of try-outs where athletes will be assessed by coaching staff on their individual ringette skills (including skating, ring handling, game skills) as well as their team play characteristics.

The fee to try-out for the team is $75. This includes all 4 ice times.

Players must participate in at least 75% of the tryouts in order to be eligible for team selection. Players must also participate on a local club team with a minimum participation of 80% of games and team practices.

Once team selections are finalized, the team practices at least once a week and participates in the following tournaments: Miramichi Invitational in November, Atlantic Championship in February,  and Eastern Canadian Ringette Championship or the Canadian Ringette Championship in April.

Teams may also play in exhibition games throughout the season, often against NB and NS high performance teams as well as having additional practices and fundraising events. These vary from year to year and team to team, depending on the coach and the commitment level of the players and their families.

The RPEI board recently updated and reorganized the sections of the Policy & Procedures manual that pertains to the High Performance program. The updated policy is here.
